Steve Talton Air Personality

Steve Talton was born at Carswell AFB. Since his dad was in the military, Steve quips that he was the cheapest of the 5 Talton offspring. "I cost my folks only $5.25 - at least to start with." Steve's father left the military shortly after his birth and moved the family first to Fort Worth and then to Maypearl, were his parents still reside.

Steve attended school in Maypearl where he was active in a wide variety of organizations. He was President of the Beta Club, a member of FFA, Salutatorian of his class, Mr. Friendly, King of Maypearl High School and voted Most Popular. He was active in a wide variety of sports as well. After High School, Steve enrolled at Dallas Baptist University. He joined the Air Force Reserves after his first year of college at, of all places, Carswell AFB, going back to where life for him started.

Steve has earned 2 degrees, an Associates in Electronics through the Air Force, and a Bachelors in Communications from Dallas Baptist University. He ran track at DBU for 1 year and played Basketball for 2.

Steve first got into Houston radio with KYOK, continuing with 102 when they bought KYOK out. He then made his on air home at 98.5 for 7 years when they contacted him to do a love show from 7 to Midnight called 'Night Moves'. He followed that with 2 years doing a jazz and oldies show for KTSU.

Steve met Don Samuels at a Denny's one evening. Shortly after he received a phone call from Travis Gardner resulting in Steve's move to KCOH in January of 1998.

After serving at Carswell AFB for the first 6 years of his reserve duty, Steve transferred to Ellington AFB. He was a navigation tech for the F-4's before training to be a camera tech for the F-16's. He has also served as a safety supervisor and a shop supervisor. His talents behind the microphone have also been put to use as a DJ for some Air Force functions. For several years he played with the Air Force Softball Team, traveling to bases throughout the US.

Steve's hobbies still include softball and his favorite form of stress relief - basketball. He has worked as a sales rep for a wine company since 1994. Steve is the father of 2 boys and 1 girl.
